What an exciting time of the year Autumn Racing is. Rosehill on Saturday was a great day with some exciting horses saluting the judge. My runners, Scratch Me Lucky tried hard and finished second in the Baillieu as did Lord Beckworth. He ran a gallant race and will now head to the paddock and return a better horse next time around. The track was very heavy.
It was also a very emotional day with tributes for Nathan Berry. Nathan was a fine young man. My sympathies go out to Tommy, Whitney and Nathan's family. Nathan rode one of his first big race winners for me on Prince Braeman in the Razor Sharp at Randwick on Villiers Day. After the race all of the owners were in the winning owner's room and happy and excited. Tommy was on his way home. He came in (for a laugh)to say what a great win it was and a lovely horse that Prince Braeman was. He did and no one knew that it wasn't Nathan and that he was probably still back in the jockey's room getting changed.
This week at Randwick sees the start of the very exciting Championships. Hopefully the weather clears. My son's school teacher has a connection to Hana's Goal who has come over from Japan. This horse has a Newcastle connection so all the very best of luck to them.
Also, this week sees the Easter Yearling Sales at Randwick - I am sure there will be some superb yearlings and maybe some record breaking prices. I am looking forward to spotting my next top colt or filly.
